Experiences

People with no experience, of all ages can enjoy the simple experience of making something with clay. It’s an activity that is totally absorbing mentally and physically – and rewards you will a long-lasting finished piece.

A clay experience can provide;

  • time spent as a family where everyone, of all ages, has fun and equally engages in making something lasting to take home.
  • a fun, and mindful creative activity to promote well-being for a team or group
  • an unusual activity as part of a wedding, special party or conference where you want guests to be part of creating something lasting to mark the occasion

We love creating unique, fun experiences for couples, friends, families and colleagues. Take Over experiences (see below) happen in the studio, but we can also come to your event and offer a unique tailored experience.

‘Studio Take-Over’

You can book a 3hr half-day session for 4 – 6 people and have the studio to yourselves, with private tuition. This gives you freedom to design and pace the session around you – you can play your own music, stop for wine and nibbles, or even birthday cakes! The perfect family, friends and team experience.
The session can be a wheel throwing session or hand-building, or a little bit of both!

Studio Takeovers cost £40 per person

There are a number of project ideas that we can offer you, or you can think of your own. The following are examples of what you could learn and achieve in a take-over session:

  • flower pressing into large vases and jugs learn to centre a pot on a wheel and make
  • a cylinder into a bowl or cup and the practice
  • making house candle holders
  • make yourself or each other a cup and decorate it.
  • making square or shaped tiles for a mosaic picture or wall installation
  • make a ceramic farm/nativity (family activity)

140 party guests enjoy a clay session!

When asked can you do a clay session for a 40th birthday party we had to think hard about how the 140 guests, in full evening wear, could take part! After some thought and discussion we took 180 leather hard clay tiles to the party and set up a clay station where people could come and carve, inscribe and print into a tile with their own special image or message. It worked amazingly well – all guests from babies to grandparents were helped to complete a tile and get their ideas into the clay. And to my huge relief the guests beautiful party clothes were not messed up at all!

Following the party, the tiles were dried, bisque fired and then glazed and displayed in mounted frames using a colour palette chose by the client to hang in their home.
